About me

I paint women. I paint their lives, their emotions, their contradictions.

I am interested in the way a feeling can become a colour.

Instead of constructing elaborate forms, I prefer simple images. A woman, a flower, a face, a landscape — familiar things that can hold unfamiliar feelings.

I use colour to make those feelings visible and, hopefully, shareable.

 

A shout-out to all the strong women in my life, starting with my great grandmother, Lütfiye Bozanoğlu, my mother, and my sister, who is also a flower — a beautiful rose.

And a shout-out to all the men in my life who have always supported me: my grandfather, who used to call me “Lilli” and was also a rose breeder; my father; and my life partner, who would call me “Nilly.”

And, of course, to my friends, who have called me “Lüfer,” “Lülüfer,” and all the other versions of my name along the way.
